My Story…
Carrie Snow Jones is a Portland, Oregon artist working primarily in oils and watercolor. Her paintings focus on animal subjects, expressive botanicals, moody landscapes, and figurative work. She primary creates intimate, small-format work painted with dramatic, naturalistic light and muted, earthy palettes.
She grew up in Montana, exploring mountains, forests, rivers, and open landscapes providing an early immersion in the natural world that shaped a deep attention to light, texture, and the quiet beauty of everyday things. She now lives in Portland with her husband and dog Pixel.
Watercolors were her entry point into painting and remain a deep love. She later added in oils, and found in them the depth of tone, richness of shadow, and complexity of surface she'd been reaching toward.
Her inspiration comes from the natural world, everyday moments, patterns, nostalgia, and the drama of light falling on familiar things.
When she's not painting, Carrie can be found on the tennis court, in the kitchen baking, or deep in a book.
